Cautious Clay has recently dropped his new single, ‘Agreeable’, and this upbeat hit with its otherwise deeply reflective lyrics has us keen for what comes next. ‘Agreeable’ is the first title to be released from his highly anticipated debut album which is expected for release in 2021. The music video enhances the vibe of the song which combines Cautious Clay’s soulful vocals with his bold and honest – and at times poetic and sarcastic – lyrics.

His new release is a curious but pleasant juxtaposition of deep lyrics and upbeat production. Cautious Clay reveals,
‘['Agreeable'] is both a reflection on how compromise is a part of our daily lives and how the compromises we make, both big and small, can have an effect on personal growth; it is also a satirical look at our current media landscape and the divisive rhetoric certain outlets and people employ in order to argue their points of view.’
The singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist only released his debut EP Blood Type in 2018, which included his breakout single ‘Civil War’. Since then, he has become one of few outsider artists to be featured on Taylor Swift’s Lover. The beat of ‘Civil War’ is actually sampled in Taylor Swift’s ‘London Boy’, making him the second-ever artist to have his song incorporated in a Swift recording. As well as having collaborated with many notable artists such as John Legend, John Mayer, Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, this American artist has also had his songs featured on Netflix original Thirteen Reasons Why and American comedy-drama Insecure.
With three EPs up his sleeve, numerous collaborations and a hot new single, we can’t wait to see what Cautious Clay’s debut album will bring. In the meantime, catch up with some of his best hits on Spotify!
