Mid-week music update! Aotearoa-New Zealand based artist Muroki has just dropped his sparkling new single 'Surfin', a roots-inflected summer jam that's perfect for warmer months. But don't be fooled -- this isn't surfin Beach Boy's style. There isn't a baggie or Huarache sandal in sight. Rather, the single is Muroki's ode to surfing...of the couch variety.
Have a listen below.
Released via Benee's record label Olive Records, the single premiered last night on triple j’s Good Nights program and sees the singer addressing his nomadic lifestyle with characteristic charm and sun-kissed swagger. On the chorus he sings:
Surfin’ / On the top of your couch / I’m homeless, and my car just broke down / Floatin’ in the middle of town / Gotta keep on surfin’ / ’Til I figure it out.
Hey, it ain't always champagne and caviar my friends.
'Surfin' is the second single from Muroki since his breakout hit 'Wavy' which topped the NZ charts earlier this year and is still going strong. It's had huge streaming success with almost 2 million plays and is well on its way to receiving gold certification. Let's just hope a new album isn't far behind! Not bad for someone who needs to crash on your pullout for the night.
