Perth based electric duo, Fourth State Turiya, have just dropped their new track ‘Highs Lows’ and we couldn't love it more.   Staying true to their style, it follows their trip-hop electropop sound reminiscent of 90s artists Lamb, Massive Attack, and Portishead.

Highs and lows are a depiction of life, right? Through the collaboration between vocalist/songwriter Leah Miche and producer/composer Edoardo Moriconi, we are led on a path fraught with distractions before reaching a final destination of peace.

“Highs Lows starts off with a classic ethereal Fourth State intro landing into the beat with a bouncy almost hip hop groove tied in with ethnic flutes and strings.” – Fourth State Turiya says,

“Overlaid with Leah's distinctive earthy pop vocals and conscious lyrical theme 'Highs Lows' is the perfect soundtrack for chilled Sunday vibes.”

Songwriter Leah describes ‘Highs Lows’ as being her observation of how the majority of humanity has defined themselves by their belief systems. The accompanying video visually expands on this concept and introduces us to a young boy on a journey of self-discovery.  In the video, he collects masks we often find ourselves hiding behind, only to throw them off a cliff, defining his individuality and place within society. Since forming in 2018, Fourth State Turiya have released three singles and their four-track EP Flourish. Flourish was recently nominated (for the second time) WAM song of the year in the Electronic Category (2019 and 2020).

We’re excited to see FST return to the stage with their classic sequencers, acoustic guitars, analogue synthesisers and loops. They have struck the stages of Groovin The Moo Bunbury, Wild Campout, Nannup Music Festival, Hidden Treasures, and supporting Sydney based artist Montaigne.

FST have drawn us into their stories—a captivating experience for those who want to dance or find themselves absorbed by the music and we can't wait to see what comes next from this exciting duo.
