Only ten days left till Halloween! We hope you have your costumes ready, your pumpkins carved, and your party decorations ready to go. And to keep your Halloween-inspired playlists full, we've got a witchy new track from LA's own queen of the soft-goth Jesse Jo Stark: 'Cry On Me', a Lana-Del-Rey-meets-Fleetwood-Mac slow burn that will have you reaching for the eyeliner with one hand and your incense stick with the other.
If you don't know much about the LA chanteuse, here's a little rundown:
Christened 'a rock’n’roll star for a new generation' by Vogue UK, Jesse Jo Stark --the daughter of Richard and Laurie Lynn Stark, (as well as the goddaughter of singer Cher) -- is no stranger to the music scene. After enlisting former Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones to help record her debut EP Down Your Drain in 2014, the LA songstress-cum-designer has been going from strength to strength, touring and supporting acts such as Guns & Roses, The Vaccines, Sunflower Bean, and The Heavy whilst perfecting her own brand of earthy Americana meets Hollywood allure.
Which brings us to 'Cry On Me', Stark's ode to a devastating love affair, a brooding track full of echo-y guitar and simmering percussion. I mean, the song is dripping in so much mood that it just makes you wanna light a candle and twirl around Stevie Nicks style. Which is exactly what I'm going to do right now. Happy Halloween everyone!
You can listen to 'Cry On Me' on all good streaming platforms now.
